The beginning of a healthier mouth and a beautiful smile begins with an initial exam. All of our new patients will receive a thorough comprehensive examination with the doctor on their first visit. This one hour appointment will consist of the following:
ï a hard and soft tissue (teeth and gums) evaluation;
ï an oral cancer screening;
ï a complete set of x-rays, and;
ï a visual view of your existing dental condition with the use of an intra-oral camera.
During this time, you will also have the opportunity to discuss with the Doctor any concerns or cosmetic treatment you may have to create the smile you have always wanted.
Please be aware that for adults, a ìcleaningî is not done during the first visit. Experience has shown us that every patient's needs are different. We cannot anticipate what kind of cleaning a patient needs or how much time is required without an examination. In order to provide the best treatment possible, the appropriate amount of time should be reserved for preventive care. After the first visit, cleaning and checkups will be done at the same time.
Your second visit will be with one of our well-trained hygienists. Whether for a routine adult prophy (cleaning) or for our soft tissue management program, this visit is one of the most valuable services we offer to you. Good oral hygiene is the basis of a healthy mouth.
If however, your first appointment with us is for an unfortunate dental emergency, then we will treat your emergency first and then follow-up with our comprehensive exam.
